In response to the theme of the 23rd “World Water Day”, “Water & Sustainable Development”, on March 22, 2015, Stora Enso, Kemira and Beihai Citizen Volunteers Association arranged a public event aiming at improving water conservation awareness in Beibu Gulf Square of Beihai and to encourage people to make water conservation promises. Raising awareness is also an important part of the “Water Stewardship – Shared Value Creation” project.
During the event, volunteers from different enterprises and civil organizations walked down the streets to invite citizens to share water conservation tips and make water conservation promises. Remarks made by each participant were recorded on video and then produced into a film insert concerning water conservation. Participants involved in the video recording expressed that through this kind of meaningful activities, more people will take active part in water resources conservation by starting with small details in daily life.
In addition, many display boards concerning water conservation knowledge were used during the event. A PH Test Board was placed for participants to conduct PH value testing. Volunteers carried out a questionnaire survey on issues of ladder-like water price, household daily water consumption and water conservation policies at national level and provided well-designed water conservation stickers free of charge. The activities in varied forms attracted a large number of participants, and obtained good social responses.
