Involving the local community in the project is one of the key aspects. All project plans must receive approval from the village council.
Villagers will also contribute to the project by helping out with constructing the system or providing the necessary land. They will also receive training on how to operate and maintain the system. This becomes extremely important once the pilot project itself has been completed.
After the project has completed, the villagers become responsible for all maintenance. They will maintain all the equipment and make sure that the wetland is kept clean to ensure the system keeps functioning.
Before we even start the project, we provide a maintenance plan to the villagers that includes instructions on how to carry it out and who is responsible.
